in all my days of reading manga I think I’ve come across about two manga artists who can actually draw dogs without making them look like gross little hellmonsters
notcuddles: The inability to depict any animal in manga or anime is utterly baffling to me. Like PICTURES. EXIST. Of all these creatures. And yet…every time it’s like an illustration from a medieval bestiary
@notcuddles YEAH IT’S EXACTLY LIKE THAT? I mean, for sure animals are hard to draw, absolutely. but it’s like they didn’t even want to bother going on Google?? or they did, but then they were like “eh, I’ll just do whatever with the face”. it is baffling.
@dana-willowfeather oh geez, let’s see…I can’t think of specific occasions where Kaoru Mori has drawn any dogs, but I’m sure she can… Then there’s Noda Satoru, who includes such gems as this in Golden Kamuy:
And of course Irie Aki! just look at that woof
edit: oh!!! of course also Hiromu Arakawa; a great example of stylized dogs that still don’t look gross
tbh they’re more Uncanny Valley than anything else–like, there are beginning artists out there with less polished technique and they aren’t making anything NEARLY as freaky as these special boys:
A commission illustration for @kreweofimp‘s fanfiction ‘Snowbound’, in which Castiel visits the Mars rover named Curiosity. Curiosity was never equipped with the ability to go back to Earth, so it gets pretty lonely up there. It enjoys having a celestial visitor every once in a while, though. :)

I can’t tell if this is seriously art or if it’s just tongue in cheek sarcastic art or if it’s post-ironic ironic art, or ironic art, or literally just a joke and that is so not okay.
i hate when people go “i dont credit fanartists as Real artists because its fanart and they should draw more original art” ok yeah that patronizing attitude is nice and all but you know like… every piece of classical art is fanart of the bible
im sorry da vinci, the last supper doesnt COUNT as real art because its not original art and you should make some ocs
Into The Spiderverse took 100% of its critically acclaimed visuals from comic books and street art and while there are obvious in-universe reasons for this it can’t be ignored that BOTH of these are traditionally seen as “lowbrow” populist art forms, here celebrated for their inherent beauty, complexity and sociopolitical importance. In this essay I will-
Zacheta, Polish National Gallery Of Art, is a place which combines modernity with history. Usually, it holds exhibitions, but painter Leon Tarasewicz used it as a canvas and transformed Zacheta itself into an actual piece of art. He covered the gallery’s staircases with paint. However, the chaotic look can be misleading, because in reality Leon had a clear vision of what he wanted to portray and carefully planned everything to look that way. At first, he painted the steps with base colors (blue, red, and yellow) at the top. Those three paths merge in one intersection which then combines their colors and everything splatters down the main entrance. (Source)
